A good designer can be hard to find, but hiring one even for a single consultation can save you time and money.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer, a consultation is even more critical because your ideas will usually be based on the current trends and have little to do with what will actually coordinate with your existing house.

If you want design advice from stores, family or friends, you'll definitely get it, but often their opinion becomes isolated and can be short sighted. The best solution: hire a design consultant to review what you are about to install. It is worth the minimal cost to make sure that the finish product is aligned with your vision.
